You’ll need:
- Frying pan
- Whisk
- Mixing bowl
- Tongs or spatula
- Shallow bowl or dish
- Small knife (for spread or fruit)
- Skewers
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of sugar bread, cut into cubes (preferably slightly stale for better texture)
- 150 ml unsweetened soy milk
- 1 sachet of vanilla sugar (approx. 8 g)
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 3 tbsp cornflour
- ½ tsp turmeric (for colour)
- Pinch of salt
- 1–2 tbsp plant-based margarine (for frying)
- La Vida Vegan chocolate spread (pistachio, hazelnut, coconut or almond)
- Red fruit (e.g. strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or cherries – optional)
Method:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the soy milk, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, cornflour, turmeric and salt until smooth and lump-free.
- Pour the mixture into a shallow bowl or dish.
- Heat a frying pan over medium heat and melt a little plant-based margarine.
- Dip the sugar bread cubes into the batter and let them soak briefly on both sides.
- Fry the cubes in the pan for about 1 minute per side, until golden brown and crispy. Repeat with the remaining bread.
- Thread the golden cubes onto skewers.
- Serve the French toast skewers warm, generously spread with La Vida Vegan chocolate spread.
- Optional: add some red fruit for extra freshness and colour.

Serve with a fresh cup of coffee for a cosy, complete breakfast.
