Candied Orange

Candied oranges with La Vida Vegan spread


3 organic oranges
400 g granulated sugar
400 ml water
La Vida Vegan dark chocolate spread
Sea salt

The instructions

  1. Cut the oranges into 1 cm slices and remove any seeds.
  2. Put the granulated sugar and water in a wide, large skillet. Bring to a boil and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add the orange slices to the skillet and place them in an even layer. Bring to a boil again.
  4. Simmer uncovered for about 1 hour or until the orange slices become transparent.
  5. Place the candied orange slices on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Let them dry uncovered for at least 24 hours. They will still feel a little sticky, but that is normal.
  6. Melt the La Vida Vegan dark chocolate spread in a microwave-safe bowl for 10-15 seconds on the highest setting or au bain-marie.
  7. Dip half of an orange slice into the melted chocolate and place it back on the baking sheet to stiffen.
    Repeat this process with all the orange slices.
    Sprinkle with a little sea salt, if necessary, for an extra dimension of flavor.

    Wait about 15 minutes for the chocolate to harden before serving the orange slices.
